ضمن مبادرة التمكين المدني والسياسي للنساء ألتي تنفذها مؤسسة ام اليتيم بدعم من صندوق الامم المتحدة للديمقراطية عقدت الجولة الاولى من ندوات التوعية والحوار مع قادة المجتمع في المحافظات الاربعة المستهدفة (بغداد , بابل , البصرة , المثنى ) للفترات مابين (12- 17) نيسان , وقد استهدفت الندوات قادة المجتمع الرجال من (شيوخ العشائر , رجال الدين , ممثلو احزاب سياسية , ومسؤولين حكوميين , أكاديميين , قطاع خاص ومنظمات المجتمع المدني ) , وقد حضر الندوات عدد من القادة المستهدفين فضلا عن بعض النساء المرشحات ومجموعات دعم النساء في كل محافظة
ان الهدف من الندوات حشد تأييد قيادات المجتمع من الرجال المؤثرين للنساء سواء المرشحات او المنتخبات والمساهمة مع مجموعة الدعم النسوية في المحافظة لتحسين ادائهن داخل وخارج البرلمان , والحصول على تأكيد والتزام قادة المجتمع من الرجال على تأييد المرشحات والمنتخبات
وقد تم استعراض أهمية مشاركة المرأة سياسيا سواء بالتصويت او بالترشيح , وضرورة رفع مستوى مشاركة المرأة مدنيا وسياسيا , ودعم النساء المرشحات والمنتخبات .

وفي ختام الندوات تم توزيع وثيقة التزام لجمع تواقيع قادة المجتمع وتثبيت التزامهم , وسيتم الاتفاق على اقامة اجتماعات بؤرية من عدد من القادة (6-9) الممثلين للفئات المؤثرة في المجتمع للأجتماع الدوري بالنساء المنتخبات من خلال خطة دعم مابعد الانتخابات
Awareness & dialogue symposiums with local leaders to support women in four governorates
Within the Initiative of civil and political empowerment for women witch carried out by UMF and funded by United Nations Fund for Democracy , the first round of awareness and dialogue symposiums held in four targeted governorates ( Baghdad , Babil , Basra , Muthanna ) between ( 12-17 ) April , symposiums targeted the men local leaders from ( elders , clerics , representatives of political parties , government officials , academics , private sector and civil society organizations ) , number of them attended awareness as well as women from candidates and women support groups in each governorate
The aim of awareness to obtain the leaders from influential men advocacy to women candidates and elected , and to contribute with the WSGs to improve women parliamentarians performance inside and outside the parliament , and to obtain confirmation and commitment of local leaders to support women candidates and elected.
By symposiums the importance of women’s political participation has been reviewed whether by vote or nomination, and the need to raise the level of women civilians and politically participation, as well as support the candidates & elected women .
By the end of symposiums commitment document had been distributed to collect the signatures of the local leaders and confirm their commitment, and will be agreed to set up a focus group meetings with ( 6-9 ) leaders who representatives to influential groups
